Arlington Heights, IL – A helicopter will fly into downtown Arlington Heights early Tuesday morning to complete the delivery of a large HVAC unit, prompting temporary road closures and restricted access in the area.
According to the Village of Arlington Heights, the operation is scheduled for Tuesday at approximately 6:30 a.m. and is expected to last about 30 minutes. The delivery is a continuation of work that began on August 28, when another HVAC unit was lifted into place.
The flight plan has been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. During the lift, parking, vehicle traffic, and pedestrian access will be limited around Evergreen Avenue and Sigwalt Street. Sidewalks along Arlington Heights Road near the drop site will also be blocked off for safety.
Police will secure the staging area, and the public is urged to avoid downtown Arlington Heights during the helicopter’s operation if possible. Officials emphasized that the restrictions are temporary and will be lifted once the equipment is safely delivered.
Village officials noted that, pending the success of this delivery, no additional helicopter flights are anticipated at this time.
