Little Rock, Ark. – Arkansas will feel more like mid-July than early September as temperatures climb into the 90s by midweek. Commuters across Pulaski County, especially along I-30 and I-630, should prepare for heat-related stress during afternoon drives through Thursday. Staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activity in peak heat remain top priorities this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, sunny skies will dominate through Sunday with only minor evening relief. Tuesday brings highs near 84 degrees, but by Wednesday the thermometer rises to 90, climbing to 93 by Thursday. Calm winds and clear nights will keep mornings mild, but daytime sun will intensify pavement and vehicle heat.

Little Rock residents should avoid leaving children or pets in cars, where cabin temperatures can soar in minutes. Outdoor workers and students returning to school activities should take frequent breaks and access shade when possible. Energy providers also urge households to manage cooling efficiently as demand rises later this week.

North Little Rock, Bryant, and Maumelle will share the same pattern, with little variation across central Arkansas. While the skies remain mostly clear, the persistent heat means travelers on major corridors should expect longer cooling times for vehicles and potentially increased roadside incidents.

The hot, dry stretch may extend into the weekend, with no immediate rain expected to break the cycle. Additional advisories could follow if heat index values rise further later this week.

Five-Day Forecast for Little Rock, Ark.

  • Thursday: Sunny, high near 93, low around 68.
