MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are set to return Monday afternoon across Minnesota, with the highest risk for wet weather expected along and north of Interstate 94. Drivers could face slick roads during the evening commute as storms push through the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, a slow-moving system will bring several rounds of showers and weak thunderstorms Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening. The strongest storms are likely to remain north of I-94, where heavier downpours and occasional lightning are possible.

Temperatures will stay seasonable, reaching the mid to upper 70s statewide, but the unsettled weather could cause travel delays and brief power disruptions. Commuters on I-94 from St. Cloud through the Twin Cities corridor should allow extra time, while those in northern Minnesota may experience the most persistent rainfall.

By Wednesday, conditions are expected to quiet down, with partly cloudy skies and highs near 80 degrees returning. More updates could be issued if storm activity lingers into midweek.
