Albany, N.Y. – Morning showers to the south and east of Albany are moving out, leaving behind clearing skies and a mainly dry day across eastern New York. Highs will climb into the upper 50s in higher terrain and low 70s in the valleys, giving residents a much-needed break before the start of the work and school week.
According to the National Weather Service office in Albany, a ridge of high pressure is slowly pushing eastward, allowing skies to brighten this afternoon. After a damp start for communities along the Hudson Valley and Berkshires, conditions are improving quickly, creating a comfortable window for outdoor activities.
Drivers along I-87 and I-90 can expect mostly dry roads through the afternoon and evening, a sharp change from the slick morning commute in areas that saw lingering drizzle. Local parks, trails, and lakes around Albany, Schroon Lake, and Saratoga Springs should see some of the best outdoor conditions in recent days.
While skies will stay mostly clear overnight, patchy fog may develop in river valleys early Monday morning. The stretch of drier weather continues into the new week, though more unsettled conditions could return by midweek.
