Houston, Texas – Scattered thunderstorms will roll through Southeast Texas this weekend, with the heaviest rain expected late Sunday across the Houston metro and along the I-10 corridor. Localized flooding could become a concern as tropical moisture fuels storms capable of dumping 1 to 3 inches of rain in a short period.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, storm coverage will peak Sunday afternoon and evening, with the highest threat of heavy rainfall focused along and south of I-10, including Harris, Fort Bend, and Galveston counties. Isolated activity may linger into Monday. Although recent trends show slightly reduced rainfall potential, forecasters warn that even one slow-moving storm could trigger street flooding in vulnerable urban areas.

The weekend heat will stick around, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s through midweek. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 60s and low 70s, with parts of the Piney Woods cooling to the 50s by early next week.

Drivers are urged to watch for ponding on roads, especially during Sunday’s afternoon and evening commute. Outdoor plans may need a backup option as the atmosphere remains unstable.

Rain chances drop sharply after Monday, but additional advisories may be issued if storm development intensifies.
