Omaha, Neb. – Cooler, drier air will settle over eastern Nebraska this weekend before a shift brings rain and thunderstorm chances early next week. Daytime highs will hold in the 60s and 70s through Sunday with crisp overnight lows dipping into the 40s.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, sunshine dominates Friday through Sunday, but by Monday, warmer air will move in, pushing highs into the mid- to upper-70s. That increase will also fuel storm development, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.

Drivers on Interstates 80 and 29 may face slick spots and reduced visibility during heavier rainfall periods early next week. Outdoor events scheduled for Monday evening could see interruptions, with rainfall chances holding between 30% and 50%.

The cool nights and mild days will offer a comfortable stretch for football games, fairs, and other weekend activities across Omaha, Lincoln, and Council Bluffs. Residents are advised, however, to prepare for wetter conditions at the start of the workweek by keeping umbrellas and rain gear handy.

Additional rain chances are possible midweek, keeping fields damp and commutes slower than usual.
