Wilmington, Del. – Drivers across Delaware should prepare for a dry, sunny Thursday before storms roll in Thursday night, bringing potential travel disruptions. Rain and thunder are likely after sunset, with localized downpours and gusty winds creating hazardous conditions on I-95 and area highways. Officials urge commuters and late-night travelers to stay alert and consider adjusting plans to avoid slick roadways.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will start mostly sunny with highs near 83 degrees. Winds from the south may gust up to 30 mph during the afternoon. By late evening, a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops, especially between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., with brief heavy rainfall possible.

Friday looks brighter, with highs climbing to 86 degrees under sunny skies. However, the unsettled pattern returns Saturday as showers and storms again threaten travel and outdoor plans. Weekend rainfall could disrupt fall activities, including youth sports and football games, particularly Saturday afternoon and evening.

Sunday brings some relief with cooler conditions near 73 degrees and a lower 30% chance of morning showers. By early next week, Delaware settles into a more seasonable fall pattern with mild sunshine and highs in the mid-70s.

Residents are advised to monitor updated alerts, secure outdoor items before storms arrive, and allow extra time for weekend travel. Additional advisories could be issued if thunderstorms strengthen Saturday.
