Hastings, NE Weather: Thunderstorms Wednesday, Highs Drop Into 60s by Friday

Hastings, Neb. – A cold front sweeping across Nebraska Wednesday will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to eastern portions of the state, followed by a sharp cooldown heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, showers and storms are most likely Wednesday afternoon into the evening, with rain chances ranging from 15% to 35%. Highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s before cooler air arrives Thursday night, dropping temperatures quickly.

Thursday will start chilly, with morning lows in the mid-40s before rebounding into the upper 70s and low 80s under mostly sunny skies. Another front will follow Thursday night, increasing the chance of early showers Friday and reinforcing a cooler pattern. By Friday afternoon, highs will struggle to reach the mid-60s across central and eastern Nebraska.

Residents should prepare for crisp mornings, with temperatures dipping into the low 40s by Saturday morning. Farmers and gardeners may want to monitor sensitive vegetation, as temperatures trend toward the lowest readings since spring.

Cooler conditions are expected to persist through the weekend, with highs in the 60s and 70s under mostly sunny skies. Additional weather updates may be issued as new systems approach.
