Hamilton, Alabama – Thunderstorms continue to pound Marion and Winston Counties late Monday morning as a slow-moving system stalls over northwest Alabama, prompting concerns for minor flooding and localized travel delays.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, as of 11:22 a.m. Monday, persistent showers and storms are drifting southeast at around 10 mph while redeveloping from the northwest. Rainfall intensity varies, but frequent downpours have been reported near Hamilton, Bear Creek, and Double Springs. Rain is expected to continue through at least early afternoon.

Motorists along U.S. Route 278 and AL-13 should watch for ponding water, especially near low-lying areas in Haleyville and Hackleburg. Visibility may drop quickly during heavier cells, and localized flash flooding is possible if storms repeatedly impact the same locations.

Residents are advised to stay off slick roads if possible and monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts for changes. This slow-moving setup is not unusual for early September but can still lead to isolated hazards, especially in areas with poor drainage.

Additional showers and thunderstorms may redevelop this evening, with updated advisories likely if conditions worsen.
