GREEN BAY, Wis. – Rain is set to return twice this week, with the first round moving into central Wisconsin late Tuesday and spreading eastward overnight. Drivers around Green Bay and Appleton should be prepared for slick roads and possible thunder early Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, scattered showers and rumbles of thunder will linger into Wednesday morning before tapering off by midday. A cold front will drop temperatures sharply, leaving highs in the 50s and 60s for the remainder of the week.

Quieter weather is expected late Wednesday into much of Thursday before another system pushes in Thursday night through Friday. Communities including Wausau, Oshkosh, and Manitowoc could see another stretch of steady rain, potentially complicating the Friday morning commute.

Officials urge residents to keep an umbrella and rain gear handy, allow extra travel time, and avoid standing water on roadways. Outdoor plans may face disruptions until drier weather settles in by Saturday.

More updates are expected as the second round of rain approaches late Thursday.
