Marquette, Michigan – After a stretch of calmer conditions, active weather is set to return across the Upper Peninsula, bringing showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds starting late Tuesday. The most notable impacts will be felt Wednesday as a cold front pushes through, particularly in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, skies will stay partly cloudy overnight with lows dipping into the 40s and 50s, warmest near the lakeshore. Showers and isolated storms are likely to arrive late Tuesday night in the western UP, with highs during the day reaching into the mid to upper 70s.

By Wednesday, the front moves eastward, spreading storms across the region with wind gusts increasing—especially across exposed areas of the Keweenaw where travel may be impacted. Highs will range from the mid-50s west to mid-60s in the east. Motorists are urged to use caution on slick roads and avoid flooded low spots.

Winds will remain breezy through Wednesday evening before calmer, cooler conditions return by Thursday. Additional weather alerts may be issued if storm intensity increases.
