Birmingham, Alabama – Alabama residents can expect mild temperatures and scattered showers throughout the Labor Day weekend, with a notable drop in temperatures by Monday. Drivers traveling across the state should prepare for wet roads, particularly in the southern half of Alabama, where rain chances are higher.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, high temperatures across central Alabama will be in the 80s for most of the weekend before falling into the 60s overnight on Sunday and into Monday. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, with a focus on the southern parts of the state. Cities like Selma, Demopolis, and Troy have a higher chance of rain on Sunday and Monday, while areas further north, including Birmingham and Anniston, will see more isolated showers.

The cooler air will sweep in behind the rain, making for a pleasant start to the week. By Tuesday, temperatures will rebound slightly, but the comfortable, less humid conditions will remain. No significant severe weather is anticipated, but any thunderstorm could produce heavy downpours in a short amount of time, potentially leading to localized flooding. Authorities advise residents to stay updated on conditions, especially if traveling long distances.

The threat of showers will continue into early next week, with a mix of sun and clouds expected by Tuesday. Conditions should dry out as the week progresses, but additional advisories may be issued if rain totals increase.
