Shreveport, Louisiana – Residents across northern Louisiana and eastern Texas will see a continuation of unseasonably cool temperatures and scattered showers through the afternoon. The system is bringing much-needed rain and relief from typical late-summer heat, but it could impact outdoor activities and travel with a chance of thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, highs across the region will remain below average, with temperatures topping out in the low to mid-80s. The highest chance for precipitation is in the morning, particularly for areas south of I-20 and east of I-49. Isolated showers and thunderstorms could linger into the early evening, but rain chances will diminish as the day progresses.

Travelers should be mindful of wet roadways and reduced visibility, especially on major routes like I-20 and US-79, which connect cities such as Shreveport, Minden, and Marshall. Despite the cooler conditions, the humidity remains high, so residents are advised to stay hydrated, even with the lower temperatures. The risk of flash flooding is minimal, but localized downpours could still create temporary puddles on some roads.

The weather pattern is expected to shift later in the week, with temperatures gradually climbing back toward seasonal averages. Forecasters will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as needed, particularly if a stray shower or storm intensifies.
