OMAHA, Neb. – Drivers in eastern Nebraska could face visibility under two miles early Thursday as patchy fog develops, especially in low-lying areas. Morning commuters are urged to allow extra travel time and use caution on highways and rural roads.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, the fog will be most widespread around sunrise before gradually lifting by late morning. The thickest fog is expected in valleys and near rivers, where moisture tends to settle overnight.
Interstate 80, Highway 75, and rural stretches across Douglas, Sarpy, and Dodge counties could see the most travel impacts. Officials recommend using low-beam headlights, reducing speed, and avoiding unnecessary passing.
The fog may also affect early flights at Eppley Airfield, though no delays have been reported as of Wednesday evening. School bus routes across the Omaha metro may run slower than normal due to limited visibility.
Drivers are advised to stay alert until conditions improve late Thursday morning.
