Charleston, SC – Sunshine will dominate Thursday across the Lowcountry before a surge of showers and thunderstorms returns Friday and lingers through the weekend. Afternoon highs are expected in the mid-80s with only minimal rain chances Thursday, giving residents one last calm day before unsettled weather arrives.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, a stalled front is forecast to push into the region Friday, triggering scattered storms and periods of heavy rain that may last into early next week. The agency notes the strongest storms could bring localized flooding in low-lying neighborhoods and brief travel delays along major routes including I-26 and U.S. 17.

Charleston, Summerville, and Mount Pleasant are likely to see the most consistent rainfall Friday evening into Saturday, while Beaufort and Hilton Head may face scattered downpours with occasional thunder. Forecasters caution drivers to avoid flooded roadways and encourage residents to secure outdoor items ahead of gusty winds.

Storm chances remain elevated through at least Monday, keeping outdoor plans at risk across southeast South Carolina and nearby coastal Georgia. Officials advise monitoring daily updates as additional advisories may be issued if rainfall totals increase.
