Burlington, Vt. – Rain is moving east across Vermont today, leaving behind damp roads and reduced visibility during the morning commute. Scattered showers could linger into Tuesday, but conditions are expected to dry out for much of midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, temperatures will stay seasonably cool with highs in the 60s and low 70s through Friday. A brief window of sunshine is likely Wednesday before another cold front sweeps in late week, bringing renewed chances for rain Thursday and Friday.
Montpelier, Rutland, and St. Albans can expect wet roadways at times Monday, with rainfall chances between 40% and 80%. By Tuesday, rain chances drop to as low as 10%, offering residents a short break from unsettled skies. Burlington and Middlebury could see the best clearing Wednesday, though clouds return quickly by Thursday morning.
Drivers are urged to remain cautious on slick roads, particularly during the morning and evening commute. Homeowners may also want to check gutters and storm drains ahead of the late-week rain to prevent minor flooding in low-lying areas.
More showers are expected into Friday, with another update from forecasters likely midweek.
