CLEVELAND, Ohio – A burst of fall-like weather is arriving across northern Ohio today, bringing cooler air, on-and-off showers, and the first signs of lake effect rain through Wednesday morning. Temperatures will struggle to climb out of the 50s and 60s in many areas, a sharp drop from recent summer warmth.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, the greatest chance for rain will be across the snowbelt counties of Ashtabula, Lake, and Geauga, where lake effect showers could linger into midweek. Cleveland holds a 70% chance of rain this evening, with the potential for a few rumbles of thunder overnight. Areas farther south, including Mansfield and Mount Vernon, will see lower rain chances but still experience cooler-than-normal air.

Travelers along I-90 from Cleveland into Erie, Pennsylvania, should be prepared for wet pavement and reduced visibility at times, especially tonight. Overnight lows dipping into the low-50s could also make for chilly mornings, prompting residents to grab a jacket for early commutes.

Showers taper off Wednesday, but forecasters warn additional systems could bring more unsettled weather later in the week.
