Detroit, Mich. – Drivers across southeast Michigan should stay alert Sunday as spotty thunderstorms develop this afternoon and evening, especially north of I-69. While severe weather is not expected, slick roadways and sudden downpours could slow traffic during evening travel hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, the strongest storm chances will hit between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday. Rainfall totals should remain light, but motorists should keep headlights on and allow extra stopping distance. Conditions improve overnight as skies clear and temperatures dip into the mid-50s.

Monday brings calmer weather. Sunshine mixes with a few passing clouds, and highs will reach the lower 70s. A brief chance of afternoon showers lingers, but most of metro Detroit, Hamtramck, and Ann Arbor should stay dry. Winds shift northwest, keeping humidity levels comfortable and paving the way for a pleasant start to the week.

By Tuesday, the region turns sunny with highs near 71, followed by clear, cool nights in the low 50s. Wednesday and Thursday continue the quiet pattern, delivering warm afternoons in the mid-70s with just a few passing clouds.

Residents should use Sunday as a reminder to check storm preparedness kits, charge devices, and plan for drier days ahead. The National Weather Service reports no hazardous weather beyond tonight, with conditions expected to stay stable through next weekend.
