DALLAS, Texas – North and Central Texas will enjoy a hot but mostly quiet weekend before a major shift brings cooler weather and a daily chance of storms next week. Highs will stay in the mid to upper 90s through Sunday with plenty of sunshine, though the National Weather Service reports a slim 10–20% chance for pop-up showers in Central Texas today.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a cold front is expected to sweep through late Monday into Tuesday, pulling highs down into the 80s across Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, and surrounding areas. Along with the cooler air, storm chances will increase each day, with the highest coverage expected Tuesday through Thursday.
Cities including Sherman, Graham, and Canton could see scattered thunderstorms as the front moves through Monday night, while heavier rain bands may develop east of I-35. Commuters should prepare for wet morning drives and potential delays on major roadways.
Residents are advised to avoid flooded low-water crossings, charge devices ahead of storms, and keep an eye on updated watches and warnings.
Cooler-than-normal highs are expected to hold through the end of the week, with readings in the upper 80s to low 90s by Friday. Additional advisories could be issued if storm chances increase.
