Gaylord, Mich. – Thunderstorms are expected to develop late tonight across eastern Upper Michigan before drifting into the Tip of the Mitt, bringing a wet start to the weekend and a sharp drop in temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, a cold front moving south will deliver the best chances for showers and isolated thunderstorms in eastern Upper Michigan and northern Lower Michigan overnight. Conditions will turn noticeably cooler behind the front, with highs falling into the 60s and lows dipping into the 40s and 50s by Sunday night.

Drivers across I-75, M-32, and US-131 should prepare for wet pavement and reduced visibility through Saturday morning. By Sunday, the cooler air will linger with scattered showers, and brisk winds are expected to develop Monday, further reinforcing the chill.

Residents are advised to keep rain gear handy, avoid unnecessary travel during heavier downpours, and secure outdoor items as winds strengthen early next week.

Showers will remain possible into midweek, with cooler-than-average temperatures holding steady. Additional advisories could be issued if storms become more widespread.

Five Day Forecast for Gaylord, Michigan:

  • Saturday: Showers, highs 71–82, lows 50–60
