Springfield, Mo. – Multiple storm systems are set to push across the Central Plains early next week, raising the potential for widespread rainfall across southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri. The greatest chances for soaking rains are expected near the Missouri-Kansas border, but forecasters caution that rainfall totals remain highly uncertain.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, the exact track and timing of the heaviest rain remains unclear. Still, residents in Joplin, Springfield, and Fayetteville should prepare for potentially wet conditions beginning Monday and lasting through midweek. Heavy downpours could slow commutes on I-44 and create ponding on low-lying roads.

Communities in southwest Missouri are urged to remain weather-aware as multiple waves of rain develop. Emergency managers advise checking for updates frequently, especially if travel is planned across rural roads or flood-prone areas. Even without exact totals, forecasters warn the setup could bring localized flooding if storms repeat over the same areas.

Rain chances are expected to persist through at least Wednesday, with additional systems possible later in the week. More advisories may be issued as storm tracks become clearer.
