Southern California Coast: Morning Fog and Mild Afternoons Continue Until Sunday

San Diego, Calif. – Drivers across San Diego County should expect patchy fog during early commutes through Saturday morning, with conditions improving to mostly sunny skies by midday. Temperatures will stay seasonable, peaking in the upper 70s and low 80s across the metro area.

According to the National Weather Service, the marine layer will keep visibility low overnight and during morning hours, especially along Interstates 5 and 8, before lifting by late morning. Winds remain light, generally 5 to 10 mph, keeping coastal conditions calm but hazy.

Inland neighborhoods including La Mesa, El Cajon, and Escondido will see faster clearing, with highs near 80. Along the coast, communities such as Oceanside, La Jolla, and Chula Vista can expect cooler mornings in the mid-60s before warming into the upper 70s. Travelers should allow extra time on morning drives and use headlights in dense fog.

The weekend outlook brings slightly warmer afternoons, with highs near 82 by Saturday. Skies will remain mostly sunny into early next week, though overnight fog is expected to continue.
