Riverside, Calif. – Dangerous heat will grip inland California, Arizona, and Nevada starting midweek, with triple-digit temperatures expected to climb as high as 114 degrees in some desert communities. The National Weather Service has issued multiple Extreme Heat Watches, warning of life-threatening conditions from Wednesday through Saturday in many areas.

According to the National Weather Service, highs will peak between 110 and 114 degrees in the Coachella Valley, Borrego Springs, and Palm Springs. Even higher readings are possible in Furnace Creek in Death Valley, where temperatures could approach 120. Las Vegas is projected to reach near 110, with overnight lows staying uncomfortably warm in the upper 80s to low 90s, offering little relief.

The Inland Empire, including Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ontario, may reach 99 to 104 degrees Thursday and Friday. Mountain communities such as Idyllwild and Big Bear will not be spared, with highs in the 90s. In Arizona, Yuma and Lake Havasu City could hit 115 by Wednesday afternoon.

Officials urge residents to avoid strenuous outdoor activity, check on vulnerable neighbors, and never leave children or pets in vehicles, where interiors can become deadly within minutes. Cooling centers are expected to open across the region.

Extreme heat watches remain in effect through Saturday, with updates likely as conditions intensify.
