The National Weather Service has a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, storms will continue developing overnight, with the strongest cells carrying the risk of damaging winds and isolated hail. Rainfall totals will generally stay under a quarter-inch but could climb higher in spots hit by repeated downpours.

Saturday brings a second round of storm potential, with scattered thunderstorms expected between midday and late afternoon. A few could again reach severe levels, fueled by highs in the low 90s and gusty east winds.

Drivers along I-29 and I-90 should plan for wet pavement, brief visibility drops, and the possibility of debris from wind gusts.
