DETROIT, Mich. – Southeast Michigan residents should prepare for a mix of heat and thunderstorms this weekend as unsettled weather lingers through Tuesday. Temperatures will climb near 91 degrees Saturday afternoon before storms move in by evening, creating risks of heavy rain and localized flooding across the Detroit metro.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms will develop after 5 p.m. Saturday, continuing into Saturday night with a 50% chance of precipitation. Storms may bring strong wind gusts and brief downpours, especially in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.

Sunday offers a brief break with partly sunny skies and highs near 86, but conditions turn stormy again Monday afternoon. Thunderstorms remain possible into Monday night and Tuesday, keeping roads slick and outdoor activities at risk of delays. Drivers should use caution during evening commutes when storms are most likely to flare.

The National Weather Service advises residents to secure outdoor items, avoid travel during heavy downpours, and keep phones charged in case of power outages.

Storm chances remain in the region until Tuesday night, with clearer, cooler weather expected by midweek.
