Duluth, Minn. – Repeated rounds of rain could drench northern Minnesota and parts of northwest Wisconsin from Friday afternoon through Saturday, with localized flooding possible along Highway 210 and in low-lying areas. Slow-moving storm systems are expected to drop several waves of rainfall over the same regions, raising the risk of ponding on roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, rainfall totals may range from a quarter inch in Grand Rapids and Walker to more than an inch in areas near St. Cloud and Brainerd by Sunday morning. While much of the affected region is currently drier than normal for August, the intensity and repetition of showers may still cause isolated flooding, especially in poor-drainage spots.

Travelers should watch for water-covered roads, particularly at night when visibility is reduced. Residents are advised to clear storm drains, monitor local alerts, and avoid driving through standing water. The heaviest rainfall is likely to fall south of Duluth into northwest Wisconsin late Friday night into Saturday morning.

Rain chances taper by Sunday, but forecasters say additional updates will be issued if conditions worsen.
