San Angelo, Texas Texans across Tom Green County should brace for near triple-digit heat and a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, with isolated showers expected to develop after 1 p.m. and high temperatures reaching 98°F. Scattered thunderstorms are developing but the heat will be the bigger threat, particularly along U.S. Route 87 and city streets where pavement temperatures will soar.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, calm morning winds will shift southeast by mid-afternoon, amplifying humidity and heat index values. The combination of sun, stagnant air, and mid-90s dew points could push feels-like temps near 105°F by late Thursday. Drivers, outdoor workers, and vulnerable residents are advised to stay indoors between 2 and 6 p.m., when peak heat is expected.

Friday through Sunday remains mostly sunny and hot, with highs consistently between 95°F and 97°F. Light winds may offer brief relief, but weekend conditions will continue to strain power grids, increase fire danger, and limit outdoor comfort. Saturday brings a slightly breezier afternoon with gusts up to 20 mph.

Early next week, rain chances tick up again, with scattered storms possible by Monday and Tuesday afternoons. While no widespread weather warnings are in place, residents should remain alert for isolated storms and monitor updates from the NWS.

More advisories could be issued if instability increases ahead of the weekend.

Five-Day Forecast for San Angelo, TX (Aug 13–17)

  • Wednesday: High 94°F, slight chance of afternoon storms
  • Thursday: High 98°F, 10% chance of storms after 1 p.m.
  • Friday: Sunny, high near 97°F
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 95°F, breezy
