Medford, OR – Dangerous triple-digit heat will grip southern Oregon through Wednesday night, with temperatures peaking at 106°F Tuesday and fire danger climbing under a Red Flag Warning.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 2 a.m. Wednesday, with widespread highs from 102–108°F across Curry, Jackson, and Josephine counties. The heat will be followed by strong afternoon winds Tuesday, prompting both a Red Flag Warning and Fire Weather Watch due to critically dry conditions. Areas at highest fire risk include the Rogue Valley, the Illinois Valley, and the eastern slopes of the Cascades.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor work during peak heat hours, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Fire agencies caution against any outdoor burning, and drivers should avoid pulling off into dry grass, which could ignite a blaze.

While temperatures will ease slightly into the 90s by Thursday, dry and breezy weather will maintain elevated fire danger through midweek. Officials warn more heat advisories may follow later this week.
