Seattle, WA – Western Washington bakes under dangerous heat today, with temperatures soaring into the upper 80s and low 90s before relief arrives midweek. The National Weather Service warns the current heat advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday, covering much of the Puget Sound region from Everett to Olympia, including inland valleys and foothill communities.

According to the National Weather Service, overnight lows will only drop into the mid-60s, prolonging the heat stress risk. Those without air conditioning or adequate hydration remain at highest risk for heat-related illnesses. Residents are urged to drink plenty of water, limit outdoor activity to early morning or late evening, and check on vulnerable neighbors, especially the elderly, young children, and pets.

Wednesday will bring a noticeable cooldown, with highs in the mid-70s and light onshore winds. The shift will provide temporary relief, though clouds and a chance of showers are expected late Thursday into Friday.

Cooler, more comfortable conditions are expected to continue into the weekend, but officials say additional advisories could be issued if heat rebuilds later in August.
