Tucson, AZ – Tucson residents should prepare for a volatile Tuesday as temperatures climb to 106°F before scattered thunderstorms develop after 11 a.m., bringing potential lightning, gusty winds, and brief downpours. Outdoor workers and event planners face the twin hazards of extreme heat and sudden storms.

According to the National Weather Service, calm morning winds will shift as storms build in the afternoon, possibly causing localized flooding on streets such as Speedway Boulevard and stretches of I-10 prone to pooling water. Storm cells may also disrupt afternoon commutes and outdoor activities, including school sports practices and construction work.

Heat remains a primary danger through early evening, with the heat index pushing near triple digits even after storms pass. The combination of high humidity and residual warmth increases the risk of heat-related illness—stay hydrated and take breaks indoors when possible.

While Wednesday will bring similar afternoon storm chances, Tuesday’s pairing of peak heat and thunderstorm activity poses the week’s highest risk. More advisories may be issued if storm coverage expands.

Five Day Forecast for Tucson, AZ:

  • Monday: Isolated thunderstorms after 11 a.m., sunny and hot. High 105°F, low 79°F.
