Southwest Louisiana Heat and Storms: Low Rain Today, Heavy Showers Possible Sunday–Tuesday

Lake Charles, La. – Hot, humid air will dominate across southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas Friday, with temperatures topping out between 91 and 95 degrees and only a slim chance of rain. By the end of the weekend, however, the pattern will shift toward more widespread storms.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, rain chances will hover between 10% and 50% today before climbing steadily, peaking at 80% in some areas on Sunday. The heaviest rainfall and most frequent lightning are expected along and south of Interstate 10, where localized downpours could slow travel and cause brief street flooding.

Saturday will stay hot, with highs around 94 degrees and slightly higher rain chances along the coast. By Monday and Tuesday, daily highs will hold in the low 90s, but humidity and frequent storms will make conditions feel oppressive. Gusty winds and lightning will accompany the strongest cells.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, secure loose outdoor items ahead of storms, and monitor local updates in case of advisories.
