Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Heavy rain and strong winds up to 50 mph will move out of the Sioux Falls region early Wednesday, but residents should prepare for a sharp transition to dangerously hot and humid conditions by Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will taper off by mid-morning. While the chance for additional storms this evening is low, areas from northwest Iowa to southwest Minnesota and eastern South Dakota may still see brief downpours or gusty winds through tonight. The main weather concern quickly shifts to heat, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s Thursday and reaching near 90°F Friday. Heat index values could approach 100 degrees both days.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, breezy, with highs near 88°F.
Friday: Mostly sunny and humid, highs around 90°F. Chance of storms returns late Friday night.
Saturday: Partly sunny, slightly cooler but still warm, high of 84°F.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, high in the mid-80s.
Monday: Sunny and mild, high in the low 80s.

Additional severe weather is possible Friday night into early Saturday, with renewed thunderstorm development across the region. Stay weather-aware as updated advisories may follow later this week.
