Denver, Colorado – Dangerous heat and critical fire conditions are gripping Colorado’s Front Range, with a heat advisory in effect through 7 p.m. Thursday for Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and surrounding lower elevation areas. Temperatures are expected to hit 99°F in Denver and reach 100°F across the plains, raising the risk of heat-related illness and fast-spreading wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, the hottest stretch arrives Thursday afternoon, with a red flag warning also active across high valleys and mountain zones until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Winds up to 25 mph and humidity as low as 7% may rapidly fuel new fires. Smoke from distant fires is also lingering across the metro.

Air quality remains poor overnight with haze continuing into Wednesday. Gusts on Wednesday may reach 17 mph.

Thursday: Near-record highs in the upper 90s; heat advisory active 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: Slight cooling, but still hot and dry — high near 98°F.
Saturday: Small chance of storms, high near 91°F.
Sunday: Higher storm chances return, slightly cooler with highs in the low 80s.
Monday: Still warm with isolated storms possible.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Heat stroke can be fatal — dial 911 at the first sign of symptoms.

Conditions may ease slightly by the weekend, but fire danger remains elevated across much of the state. Additional weather alerts could follow if heat or wind intensifies again.

Five-Day Forecast for Denver, Colorado:

  • Wednesday: 98°F, smoke, partly sunny
  • Thursday: 99°F, mostly sunny, heat advisory
  • Friday: 98°F, dry and hot
  • Saturday: 91°F, isolated storms
  • Sunday: 82°F, chance of thunderstorms
