Flagstaff, Arizona – Northern Arizona is locked in a relentless stretch of dangerous heat, with some of the hottest temperatures of the summer expected to linger through Saturday. Residents in Camp Verde are staring down highs near 110°F, while Prescott, Winslow, and Holbrook will all flirt with or top 100°F much of the week. According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, the region will see hot, dry conditions with only limited relief from monsoon storms, which are mostly confined to higher elevations.

Travelers across US 89, I-40, and routes in and out of Sedona should plan for extreme heat impacting both road safety and car performance, especially during afternoon hours. Power grids and utilities will remain under strain, with higher risk of outages or brownouts in rural areas. For those working outdoors, staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks is critical—heat illnesses can set in quickly with these temperatures.

Monsoon activity is expected to stay limited until at least midweek, keeping much of northern and central Arizona dry and vulnerable to heat-related hazards. Anyone planning outdoor activities is urged to reschedule for early morning or evening, and to check in on vulnerable neighbors and pets. The National Weather Service warns that additional heat advisories or warnings could be issued if the pattern holds through the weekend.
