California Coastal Weather: Patchy Fog and Cloudy Skies in Eureka Through Monday

Eureka, Calif. – Drivers near Eureka should prepare for reduced visibility overnight Thursday as patchy fog settles into the region and lingers into early Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, skies will remain mostly cloudy through the weekend with temperatures hovering in the low 60s during the day and mid-50s at night. Calm winds Thursday night will shift to light north-northwest winds between 5 to 9 mph by Friday afternoon.

Coastal residents in Arcata, Fortuna, and McKinleyville should expect cloud cover to persist through Sunday, with limited sun breaks and cooler daytime highs near 63°F. Saturday night into Sunday morning may bring slightly stronger winds but no rain is in the forecast. Drivers are urged to use caution during fog-prone hours, especially along Highway 101 and near Humboldt Bay, where visibility can drop suddenly.

While the weather remains mild, locals should still allow extra travel time during foggy mornings and consider delaying early commutes. No weather advisories are in place as of Thursday night.

Mostly cloudy conditions are expected to last into next week, with only minor shifts in temperature and no major systems forecast.
