Corpus Christi, Texas – Sweltering heat and oppressive humidity will grip South Texas through Monday, with heat index values soaring into the 110s and little relief in sight. Residents across the region, including Corpus Christi and surrounding counties, should take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, daily highs from Thursday through Monday will range between 92°F and 106°F, with minimal rain chances topping out at 20% on Saturday. Overnight lows offer little cooldown, hovering in the upper 70s to low 80s. The prolonged exposure to extreme heat increases risks for vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly, outdoor workers, and pets.

Communities in Nueces, Kleberg, and San Patricio counties should limit outdoor activity during peak hours, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors. Air conditioning use will likely surge, so local officials advise conserving energy when possible. Cooling centers may open if power strain worsens.

While isolated afternoon showers are possible over the weekend, no widespread rain is expected. This is typical for late July into early August, historically among the hottest periods for South Texas.

Excessive heat remains a concern into next week. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions intensify.
