Fort Worth, Texas – A weak cold front is set to bring isolated thunderstorms and slight relief from the extreme heat across North Texas starting Friday, with scattered showers possible into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, temperatures will remain in the upper 90s through Sunday across Dallas, Waco, and surrounding cities, with afternoon heat indices continuing to climb past 100°F. Rain chances begin Friday, with a 30% chance of storms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and up to 50% coverage near Palestine and southern counties. Gusty winds and lightning are the primary hazards, though severe weather is not expected.
Dallas will see highs of 103°F Thursday before cooling slightly to 92–96°F over the weekend. Waco, Temple, and Killeen will remain similarly hot, topping out at 101°F Thursday and dipping into the mid-90s by Saturday. Storm chances in these cities range from 20% to 30% through Sunday.
Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure, and remain weather-aware for potential lightning and strong wind gusts. Any outdoor events should have rain contingency plans in place.
Storm chances taper off by Monday, but hot and humid conditions will persist into next week.
