Omaha, Nebraska – Residents across eastern Nebraska should brace for another round of severe thunderstorms between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 3 a.m. Wednesday, with damaging winds and localized flooding among the primary threats.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, there’s an 80% chance of thunderstorms and a 25% chance they will reach severe levels. The most at-risk areas include Lincoln, Norfolk, and Omaha, where Level 2 on the local threat scale has been issued. Storms may produce wind gusts near 70 mph and hail up to 1 inch in diameter.
Heavy rainfall could overwhelm low-lying areas and urban drainage systems. Officials warn that storms may “train” over the same locations, significantly increasing the risk of flash flooding overnight.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and stay weather-aware through the evening hours. Travel should be limited during the peak threat window, especially in flood-prone areas.
Storms are expected to taper off before sunrise Wednesday, but additional alerts or flood advisories could be issued depending on rainfall totals.
