Fort Worth, Texas – Scattered storms, lightning, and stifling humidity are on tap for North and Central Texas beginning Friday as a weak front pushes through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, rain chances increase late this week, especially in the afternoons and evenings from Friday through Sunday. While severe weather is not expected, gusty winds and occasional lightning could accompany isolated or scattered thunderstorms.
Friday’s heat will remain intense, with highs in the mid-90s from Sherman to Waco, and heat index values climbing to near 105°, particularly in urban areas like DFW, Killeen, and Palestine. Although slightly cooler temperatures are forecast heading into the weekend, the combination of lingering humidity and spotty rain will keep conditions muggy and uncomfortable.
Scattered storms are most likely on Friday and Saturday, especially across East Texas and along the I-20 corridor. Rain will taper by Sunday but isolated cells may still pop up southeast of Dallas.
Residents should stay weather-aware, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and secure loose items ahead of gusty winds. Additional advisories may be issued if storm coverage increases.
Storm chances remain in the forecast through Sunday evening, with continued heat and humidity likely into early next week.
