Quad Cities, IA/IL – Heavy downpours and gusty winds could sweep through eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois late Monday into early Tuesday, raising concerns for overnight flooding and tree damage.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, isolated storms may form this afternoon, but a more organized and potentially impactful storm complex is expected to arrive between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday. The overall severe weather threat is marginal (Level 1 of 5), but hazards include soaking rain capable of ponding roads and strong winds that may topple trees.

Residents in Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, and Bettendorf should prepare for limited visibility and slick road conditions during the Tuesday morning commute. Storm remnants from the overnight system may also spark additional afternoon storms Tuesday.

NWS advises the public to have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight, especially when asleep. Power outages or blocked roadways could occur in some neighborhoods.

The threat window ends by mid-morning Tuesday, though additional advisories are possible if storms redevelop Tuesday afternoon.
