Tulsa, Oklahoma – Thunderstorms could spark gusty winds and heavy rain across southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Sunday afternoon and evening, though the threat is more isolated compared to Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, storm chances range from 20–30% in areas such as McAlester, Poteau, and Fort Smith, primarily between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. Cloud-to-ground lightning, brief downpours, and wind gusts are the main concerns, especially with any slow-moving or training storms.

Cities like Muskogee, Stigler, and Sallisaw may see localized impacts during the afternoon, while Fayetteville and Tahlequah could experience brief showers in the evening. Despite the lower coverage, officials advise residents to remain alert to rapidly changing weather, especially near outdoor events or travel routes like U.S. Highway 69 and I-40.

Residents are encouraged to monitor conditions closely, seek indoor shelter during any thunder, and avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding. Power outages or brief road hazards may occur under stronger cells.

Rain and storm chances will taper off by late evening, though updates will continue as needed if storm activity intensifies.
