Residents in Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Searcy should plan for heat index values exceeding 110°F, creating serious health and safety risks.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect for much of central, north central, southeast, eastern, and western Arkansas, with a Heat Advisory covering the rest of the state. Forecasters expect actual highs to reach between 98°F and 103°F, with the worst conditions peaking from noon through 7 p.m. Roads and public transit may see slowdowns due to heat stress, while power companies prepare for possible strain on the electric grid.
Cities like Fayetteville, Russellville, and Hot Springs will also face scorching highs near 100°F. Schools, outdoor workers, and vulnerable groups—including the elderly—are urged to limit time outdoors, wear light clothing, and stay hydrated. If you have air conditioning, keep it running; fans may not be enough in this heat. Utilities warn of possible brownouts if demand spikes, so charge devices and check on neighbors.
