Houston, Texas – Relentless summer heat continues to grip Houston and Southeast Texas, with heat indices soaring near 106°F and little relief in sight until late in the week. Highs will stick to the mid- to upper-90s, creating dangerous conditions for anyone exposed to prolonged outdoor activity.

According to the National Weather Service Houston-Galveston, hot and mostly rain-free weather is set to persist through Thursday across the region, with major cities including Houston, Galveston, Katy, and College Station likely to see peak afternoon heat indices over 105°F. Widespread heat advisories are possible, especially in urban and inland counties.

Bay City, Huntsville, Liberty, and Angleton are among the locations forecast to see maximum heat indices between 103°F and 106°F most afternoons. Minimal rainfall and high humidity will only heighten the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during the afternoon, and check on vulnerable neighbors, children, and pets. If you have air conditioning, use it—fans alone may not be sufficient.

Relief is on the way, but not until the end of the week. Slightly cooler temperatures and higher chances for rain and clouds move in by Friday and Saturday, with storm chances climbing to 40% by the weekend. Stay tuned for further updates as advisories may be extended.

Five Day Weather Outlook for Houston:

  • Tuesday: High 97°F / Low 78°F – Heat Index 104°F, <10% rain
