Beatrice, Nebraska – Flash flooding is prompting urgent warnings across southeastern Nebraska, where residents in Beatrice, Filley, Virginia, and nearby areas are being told to move to higher ground before 3:15 p.m. Monday.

According to the US National Weather Service Omaha/Valley Nebraska, a flash flood warning remains in effect for central Gage County, impacting more than 14,000 people, seven schools, and two hospitals. Areas of greatest concern include Beatrice, Rockford, Ellis, Holmesville, and Virginia, where rapidly rising water may make some roads impassable and put low-lying neighborhoods at risk.

Local authorities urge everyone to avoid walking or driving through floodwaters and to remain alert for changing road conditions. U.S. Route 136 and key connectors may see closures if water levels continue to rise. Residents near Homestead National Monument and along smaller creeks are especially vulnerable to fast-moving water.

The public is advised to monitor local alerts and prepare for additional warnings, as heavy rain could persist or shift into nearby counties. The current warning remains active until at least 3:15 p.m. Monday, with further updates expected if conditions worsen.
