Winnipeg, Manitoba – Teen Robbery With Machete Leaves 14-Year-Old Injured; Three Arrested

Winnipeg, MB – A 14-year-old boy was allegedly robbed and injured with a machete in Winnipeg Friday evening, prompting police to arrest three teens in connection with the attack.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the incident occurred just after 8:30 p.m. on Friday in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue, when the victim was approached by three teens. Police allege that one of the suspects, armed with a machete, struck the boy numerous times, causing significant injury and forcing him to the ground. The teens then allegedly robbed the victim of personal property before fleeing the scene.

Emergency responders with West District General Patrol provided immediate medical care, and the victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. According to police, officers quickly tracked down and arrested the three suspects at a nearby restaurant in the 1400 block of St. Matthews Avenue. The Major Crimes Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

A 13-year-old boy has allegedly been charged with robbery and three outstanding warrants for failing to comply with sentence, police reported. A 14-year-old boy has also allegedly been charged with robbery. Both remain in custody. The third suspect, a 15-year-old boy, is allegedly facing a robbery charge and was released on an Undertaking.
