Boston, Massachusetts – Boston residents will enjoy pleasant, low-humidity sunshine through Tuesday, but the city faces dangerous heat and humidity by Friday as a sweltering air mass sweeps into eastern Massachusetts.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, highs will stay comfortable in the upper 70s to low 80s Monday and Tuesday with mostly sunny skies. Humidity ramps up on Wednesday, pushing temperatures near 90°F by Thursday. By Friday, oppressive conditions arrive—heat indices are expected to soar past 100°F, with some areas topping 105°. Scattered thunderstorms may also develop, increasing the risk of localized flooding and brief power outages, especially along the I-95 corridor.
Worcester, Lowell, and Brockton can expect similar temperature spikes, while Cape Cod and the Islands will be slightly cooler but still humid. Local officials advise limiting outdoor activities, checking on vulnerable neighbors, and preparing for possible cooling center announcements. Residents should avoid strenuous exercise during peak heat, hydrate frequently, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles. Utilities recommend charging mobile devices and preparing for possible brief outages as storms arrive.
This marks the season’s first major heat event, rivaling July 2022’s triple-digit heat wave. Warnings remain in effect through Friday, and additional advisories are likely if the dangerous heat lingers into the weekend.
