Denver, Colorado – Scattered afternoon thunderstorms will impact much of Colorado today, with the most intense storms developing over the Front Range mountains and foothills. Drivers and residents in the Denver-Boulder area should stay alert for rapidly changing conditions, heavy rain, and localized flooding late this afternoon and evening.

According to the US National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, localized heavy rainfall is the main threat, with storms becoming more numerous after 2 p.m. Gusty winds and hail are also possible, especially in northeast Colorado, which could see the strongest cells tonight.

Temperatures will reach the 60s and 70s in the mountains and valleys, while the urban corridor—including Denver and Boulder—will push into the 90s. The foothills and Palmer Divide can expect highs in the 70s to 80s, with scattered to likely afternoon storms. Areas like Fort Collins, Greeley, and Castle Rock should be prepared for quick downpours and strong winds along key roadways, including I-25 and US-36.

Travelers should avoid flooded roads, secure outdoor items, and have flashlights ready in case of power outages. Hikers and outdoor workers are urged to seek shelter if thunder is heard.

Thunderstorm threats remain in effect through late evening, with the potential for more advisories if severe weather develops overnight.
