Little Rock, Ark. – Dangerous heat will grip much of Arkansas on Monday as temperatures soar and humidity pushes heat indices past 100°F by early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, isolated thunderstorms may develop after 2 p.m. Monday, bringing the potential for damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours. With road surfaces on major corridors like I-30 and I-630 expected to bake under peak sun, any rain could lead to slick conditions. Travelers should avoid outdoor exertion during peak heat and drive cautiously during potential storms.

Southwest winds between 5 and 10 mph will add to the sticky conditions across Pulaski, Saline, and Garland counties. Rainfall totals remain low — under a tenth of an inch — but storm cells could be locally intense. Monday’s high will reach 96°F, with evening temperatures holding in the mid-70s under partly cloudy skies.

Looking ahead to the five-day forecast:

  • Tuesday (July 15): Mostly sunny and hot again. High 95°F. Thunderstorm chances return after 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday (July 16): Slight thunderstorm chance by late afternoon. High 97°F.
  • Thursday (July 17): Mostly sunny, high near 98°F. Isolated afternoon storm possible.
  • Friday (July 18): Showers and thunderstorms likely after 1 p.m. High 96°F.
  • Saturday (July 19): Continued storm chances. Partly sunny, high near 96°F.

Expect more alerts later this week as storm risks increase by Friday. Stay weather-aware and limit outdoor exposure during peak heat hours.
