Seattle, Washington – Seattle will see its hottest stretch of summer so far beginning Sunday, as temperatures climb to 85°F under clear skies.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday, July 13, will mark the start of a prolonged sunny pattern across King County, with highs ranging from 81°F to 88°F through midweek. Sunday’s heat will build quickly by early afternoon, with calm conditions and minimal cloud cover expected throughout the day.

Drivers along I-5 and SR-520 should watch for sun glare during peak travel hours, especially with low overnight cooling in the low 60s. Winds will remain light, between 5 to 7 mph, offering little relief during the warm afternoons. Health officials recommend staying hydrated, limiting outdoor work during peak hours, and checking on vulnerable neighbors.

Monday stays warm with a high near 80°F and partly sunny skies. Tuesday and Wednesday bring the most significant heat jump, with clear skies and highs of 82°F and 88°F respectively. Nighttime lows will hover in the low 60s, which may offer some cooling but not enough to fully reset indoor temperatures.

Looking ahead, Thursday continues the trend with another sunny day and a high of 88°F. There’s currently no rain in the five-day outlook, increasing the risk of dry conditions and potential brush fires east of the metro.

This extended heat event will continue through at least Thursday, July 17. Stay tuned for updated advisories, and consider adjusting outdoor plans around midday peak temperatures.
