Wilmington, North Carolina – Afternoon storms could turn severe across inland South Carolina Saturday, while coastal North Carolina faces minor tidal flooding tonight along the lower Cape Fear River.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a marginal risk (Level 1 of 5) for damaging wind gusts exists primarily over the SC Pee Dee region, including Florence, Marion, and Dillon counties. Storms are expected to develop late Saturday afternoon and diminish overnight.

Coastal areas near and north of North Myrtle Beach, SC, are under a heightened risk for rip currents due to southerly swells. Meanwhile, areas along the lower Cape Fear River—including parts of Wilmington—could see minor tidal flooding during the evening high tide cycle.

Daytime highs will reach the low to mid-90s inland and upper 80s near the coast. Residents are urged to monitor local updates, avoid swimming in flagged beach zones, and refrain from unnecessary travel during evening downpours.

Storm activity should ease after midnight, but additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen through Sunday morning.
